Completed my first hike. Okay so it's not REALLY a hike but a nice 1-3/4 to 2 mile walk through the woods. But for me it was a great beginning...it's very level with only one big elevation change and that is at the end. I could definitly tell that by the end I wasn't in any shape to tackle some of the other ones on my list that are 5+ miles...those may have to wait till end of season.
This hike is part of the Scarborough Land Conservation Trust. The Scarborough Land Conservation Trust (SLCT) is a non-profit organization committed to protecting open space within the Town of Scarborough for water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational benefits. Since 1977, SLCT has protected more than 1,000 acres in Scarborough and has constructed trails and parking areas on 375 acres for the enjoyment of the public. I took many pictures however I'll have to wait a day or so to get them off my camera...I seem to have misplaced my camera cable...oops!
I couldn't believe something as nice as that was literally in my backyard! The end of the trail goes along the marsh and there are lots of nice sights that I'm too busy to see when I drive by. So it was a very nice walk with the exception of all the mosquitoes and flies that felt me a disturbance to their habitat...mental note...don't forget the bug spray next time!
Pictures coming soon!
